Running on the mayoral ticket is Glenn Ingoglia, the president of the Island Park Chamber of Commerce. An attorney, Ingoglia has operated an office in the village since 2004, and has lived in Island Park his entire life. He founded the Island Park Residential and Business Hurricane Relief Fund in 2012, at the request of the village board, and the organization has awarded 32 grants to Island Park families and businesses in his time as president. As president of the chamber, he has implemented a village beautification project, lobbied to change parking regulations in favor of residents and business owners and organized a free legal clinic to help Island Park residents suffering from Sandy-related issues. He is an active member of the Island Park Civic Association and a sponsor of the Island Park Little League.

The Voice Party’s candidates for trustee are Laura Risolo Hassett and Columbia Ciccimarro. Hassett, a registered oncology nurse at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, helped establish the Civic Association and served as its first vice president for two terms. During that time, she worked with County Legislator Denise Ford to ensure the removal of registered sex offenders from the Long Beach Motor Inn, secured funds for a safety-focused traffic study of Austin Boulevard, helped implement a summer activity program at Masone Beach and collaborated with the Nassau County Police Department to educate Island Park parents on youth drug abuse. Hassett is a lifelong resident of the village.

Ciccimarro, too, has lived in Island Park all her life. An active member of the Civic Association and the Island Park PTA, she is a special education teacher in Herricks, and has chaired that district’s special education committee for the past three years. She is a self-described community organizer and activist, and has worked with the downtown beautification agenda, helped with the cleanup of Masone Beach and volunteered with the Island Park Flea Market to raise money for Save Our Shorelines Long Island.
