State Assemblyman Todd Kaminsky visited Long Beach High School on Jan. 8 and announced that he secured $50,000 in state funding to kick-start the One-to-One Chromebook Initiative, which will provide laptops for every student, teacher and administrator.

“In today’s society, technology is no longer a luxury, but a necessity,” Kaminsky said in a statement. “Ensuring that every student has access to the internet and computer resources during school is essential to enhancing every student’s success. I am proud to help the Long Beach School District secure funding to start this initiative.”

“We appreciate the support of our technology initiative from Assemblyman Kaminsky,” said Schools Superintendent David Weiss. “Providing students with access to a ubiquitous technology environment will enhance their educational experiences in Long Beach Schools. This state funding gets us on the way faster than we would otherwise be able to."

With the funding, the Long Beach High School purchased 139 Chromebooks. The District will continue to expand access to Chromebooks in the coming years.
