Pt. Lookout man charged with manslaughter for DWI death

Shawn Gallivan, 22, of Point Lookout was indicted by a grand jury for manslaughter in the second degree, vehicular manslaughter in the first and second degree and aggravated DWI on April 9. According Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice, Gallivan was arrested on Oct. 17, 2009 after police said he hit and killed David King, 53, of Long Beach while driving eastbound on East Broadway near the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard at 3:10 a.m. that day.

Originally charged with leaving the scene of an accident, the additional charges were included after an investigation by Rice’s office. Gallivan is due back in court on May 7 and faces up to 15 years in prison if he is convicted.

John Gatta, 45, of Sayville was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Lido Boulevard in Lido Beach on March 27.

Mark Walsh, 21, of Point Lookout was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Lido Boulevard in Lido Beach on April 4.

Thomas Bettua, 34, of Long Beach was arrested and charged with driving without a license on Lido Boulevard and Sharen Drive in Lido Beach on April 12.

Omar Campell, 29, of Freeport was arrested and charged with driving without a license on Lido Boulevard in Point Lookout on April 13.

Elizabeth Neville, 46, of Long Beach was arrested and charged with petit larceny at Kohl’s in Oceanside on April 15.

Robert Finchley, 37, of Long Beach was arrested and charged with forgery at the Long Beach Police Department on April 22.

Four tires were removed from a 2008 Acura on Parkside Drive in Point Lookout on April 13.



Larceny

A person claims that she gave an unknown suspect $50 cash and a cashier’s check for $2,000 to secure an apartment in Long Beach. Despite numerous calls, the person was not been able to contact suspect. The suspect is described as a white male, mid-30s, 5’8” tall, clean shaven and with an average build and light brown hair. His wife is a white female in her mid-30s, about 5’6” with a slender build.
