Dozens of students showed off some stellar basketball skills at the annual Hoops Shoot, a free-throw contest hosted by New York State Elks Lodge No. 1. The event, held at Lynbrook South Middle School on Jan. 6, is the first round in a series of contests that will culminate in a state-level final showdown in March.
More than 30 kids came out to shoot some hoops. The division winners are Maeve O’Niell for girls 8 to 9; Austin Chen for boys 8 to 9; Rylee Blysteal for girls 10 to 11; Jasper Chen for boys 10 to 11; Charlotte CoCo for girls 12 to 13; and Ivan Tandon for boys 12 to 13.
The winners will move on to the next round that will take place later this month.
