Lynbrook Mayor’s Golf Outing Raises Funds for Residents

The Lynbrook Mayor’s Golf Outing will return Monday, Aug. 17, bringing community members and local leaders together for a day of golf while raising money for Lynbrook residents in need.

Proceeds from the annual outing benefit the Lynbrook Community Chest, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to residents facing financial and economic hardships. The event has become one of the organization’s major annual fundraisers.

This year’s outing will also recognize three honorees for their professional accomplishments and contributions to the community: Bruce Levitt of Mur-Lee’s, Michael V. Paladino of Malatesta Paladino, Inc., and Lynbrook High School educator Dr. Ben Tieniber.

Levitt has spent four decades helping lead Mur-Lee’s, a family business founded in 1946 by his father, Murray, and uncle, Lee. He returned to New York in 1986 to join the business after pursuing an acting career in California. Levitt and his brother, Harry, assumed ownership in 2000, and Levitt continued leading the business following his brother’s retirement in 2021. Throughout the years, the family business has supported numerous charitable causes while serving generations of customers.

Paladino, co-founder and president of Malatesta Paladino, Inc., has more than five decades of experience in construction, real estate development and investment. He began his career as a mason and contractor before helping build the New York City-based concrete and masonry restoration company. Paladino has overseen hundreds of residential and commercial projects and has also remained active in the Tiro A Segno Italian heritage organization, where he has held leadership positions including president and vice president.

Tieniber has taught at Lynbrook High School for the past nine years, teaching courses including accounting, business law, Virtual Enterprise and Senior Seminar. Outside the classroom, he has served for nine years as adviser to the Lynbrook Key Club, helping students become involved in service projects throughout the community. He also serves as vice president of the Lynbrook Kiwanis Club and advises several student organizations, including DECA and the S.T.A.R.T. Club. Tieniber was named the Business Teachers Association of New York State’s Business Teacher of the Year in 2025 and the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce’s Educator of the Year in 2024.

Last year’s outing drew about 200 golfers across two courses and was co-sponsored by the Village of Lynbrook and Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce.

Organizers are currently seeking raffle prize donations from local businesses and community members for this year’s outing. Raffles play a key role in the fundraiser, while also giving participating businesses an opportunity to support and connect with the Lynbrook community.
