Brookside Elementary School hosted its first Turkey Trot, where students ran around the field passing a rubber chicken like a baton to their classmates.
And the children were racing for a cause. Each student brought in a canned goods item to be donated to local food pantries for Thanksgiving. Family members watched from the sidelines and cheered the little ones on.
“It’s an engaging, fun way to support collaboration and teamwork, which is a big part of our school, and to engage our families,” said Brookside Principal Unal Karakas.
