These days, getting ahead means keeping up with the competition, from schoolwork to landing a job. By offering supplemental learning for required subjects, Science Math Education & College Consulting (SMECC) can give your child an edge for the best outcome.

What makes SMECC so unique is that every faculty member has either a Ph.D. or J.D. from reputable United States institutions. Most are also heavily involved in scientific research. These factors provide a different perspective for the students, particularly for those serious about math or science. The professors at SMECC are  highly equipped to help students excel on standardized tests, such as the New York State Regents, PSAT, SAT, and ACT.

Founder and CEO, Dr. Suneeta Paroly, graduated with a Ph.D. in Biology from Wesleyan University in 2005. As a post-doctoral research associate at Columbia University from 2005-2009, she studied kidney development in the mammalian embryo. Over the next two years, she served on the Biology faculty at Bard High School Early College, and started a collaborative research project involving studies on the role of the Nek2 Kinase in breast cancer. Raising two young children in her home in Oceanside made it difficult to continue the commute and full-time job, but she still wanted to pursue her passion for teaching. With her husband on board, who is a bio-chemist at Queens College, she left Bard and created SMECC. Several of her colleagues, all of whom have Doctorate degrees, are teaching at her facility as well.

“Life is all about math and science,” said Dr. Paroly. She breaks up what SMECC has to offer into four components. Basic Math and Science tutoring is offered for grades 6 through 12, and preparation for AP courses for grades 10 and 11. Students in grades 6 through 10 who have an interest in Math and Science can attend a two-week summer camp, which can include research projects. SAT, PSAT and Regents preparation is offered as an eight-week program to grades 10 and 11.
