Malverne hosted their annual Memorial Day parade on May 26. The parade began at 10 a.m., following the Freedom 5K run. The parade began at the Gazebo in Reese Park and followed the long route through the village, traveling through the Westwood community.
“Memorial Day in Malverne is always a memorable tradition for the many children and families who participate in and cheer on the parade,” said Malverne Mayor Timothy Sullivan.
The parade featured many organizations and groups from throughout the Malverne community, from the Chamber of Commerce to the local Little League. A highlight of the festivities was the vintage cars featured in the parade.
“We are so grateful that this years ceremony bestowed the honor and respect for those men and women in our military who gave their all in service to our country,” said Sullivan.
Following the parade, there was a ceremony to honor those who fought for the county. Then hot dogs and lemonade were served to those in attendance.
