At a time when most 20-year-olds are spending their summer at the beach or working their jobs, Malverne resident Dan Higgins is making his directorial debut of a new Off-Off-Broadway play.
The show, called “The Falls” is being performed at the Theatre for the New City and is a two-character play about loners who, on a whim, drive off to Niagara Falls and embark on a spiritual, emotional and geographic journey.
Dan was approached this past May with the opportunity to direct the play, which was written by Claude Solnik, a Long Island business news reporter and playwright.
He said of the opportunity, “What 20 year old gets to fulfill a dream? I am lucky to have a family that supports me in everything I do. I know without my Mom driving me when I was 5 years old to every show and audition I would never be where I am today. Come see ‘The Falls’, and make sure you say hi to me! "
Dan has starred in many shows across Long Island with leads in “Rent”, The Who’s “Tommy: The Musical”, “Dog Sees God” and just recently in “Our Town”. He is a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, where he was actively involved in theatre and choir.
The Theatre for the New City is located at 155 First Avenue (between 9 and 10 Streets). The show will be performed July 17 through 20 at 8:00 p.m. and has been running since July 10. For more tickets and more information, go to http://www.theaterforthenewcity.net/falls.htm
