A 14-year-old girl was walking on Doris Place at the corner of Gormley Avenue at 6:05 p.m. on May 19, when she was approached by a man she described as in his late 20s in a black, late-model Jeep with new blue-and-yellow New York license plates. The man asked her if she was lost and told her several times to get in his car, police said.

The windows and windshields of more than 50 cars in Merrick, North Merrick, Bellmore, North Bellmore and Wantagh were broken with what appeared to be a blunt object between between 11 p.m. Saturday night and 5 a.m. Sunday morning, police said.

Three people were arrested on Fish Avenue, about 50 feet from Mepham High School in North Bellmore, and charged with drug possession at about 1 p.m. on Monday, Lt. Kevin Smith of the Nassau County Police Department said.

The Herald has received confirmed reports that there was police activity in or around Mepham High School on Monday between noon and 1 p.m. According to unconfirmed reports, a 20-year-old alleged drug dealer was arrested at Stewart and and Elbert avenues.
Nassau County Police have yet to confirm the incident.
