Previously, meetings were held at the Merrick Park Golf Course Clubhouse, south of Sunrise Highway. Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced today that Sean Gluck, a serial purse-snatcher with two prior theft convictions, has pleaded guilty to burglary and grand larceny charges after going on his third crime spree in as many years. Gluck will receive three to six years in prison in exchange for his plea. more

Police: Armed robbery at Dunkin Donuts A man armed with a black handgun entered the Dunkin Donuts at 2084 Sunrise Highway in Merrick on Dec. 7 at 9:15 p.m. and demanded money from a 33-year-old male employee, police said. The suspect, described by authorities as a black male in his mid-20s, about 6-foot-2, wearing a grey mask, dark hoodie and dark pants, reportedly ran off with an unknown amount of money from the cash register and was last seen heading toward Hewlett Avenue. Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous. Teen arrested for car theft Officers from the First Precinct arrested Joshua Gonzalez, 17, for stealing a 2000 Honda Civic from Schermerhorn street on Nov. 30 at 2:22 a.m. He was arraigned in First District Court on Dec. 1 and charged with third-degree Grand Larceny. Burglary A Tadmore Street home was burglarized on Nov. 30, and assorted jewelry was stolen, police said. The burglar reportedly entered through a back window. more
