Jam Dance hosts second 'Jam for Janie' dance-a-thon

Jam Dance Studio held their second annual “dance-a-thon” for Steven Tyler’s foundation, Janie’s Fund, on Nov.18.

Known for being the frontman of well known rock band Aerosmith, Tyler founded Janie’s Fund, which brings awareness to the epidemic of abuse and neglect of young women and children, and raises funds to ensure that all girls receive any support and services they need to help them overcome any trauma or pain they experience from abuse.

Partnering with Michelle Ferraro’s Dance USA, located in Coram, and Northeast Dance Academy, located in Commack, Jam joined the fundraiser “Dance for Janie” held by the Star Dance Alliance.

Dancers between the ages of 5 and 17 took part in the festivities for four hours on a Saturday evening, including a glow in the dark dance party.

Additionally, a fun and challenging dance class was held, with prizes given out such as scholarships and merchandise.

The event was very successful, as Michelle Cuccaro Cain, co-owner of Jam Dance, told the Herald the studio helped raise $20,000 over the last two years for Janie’s Fund.

The Jam Dance Studio has been serving the Bellmore-Merrick community for 18 years, and was the recipient of the 2022 Heart of a Champion Award. Located at 227 Bedford, the Bellmore studio offers classes for dancers ages one and older. The studio offers both recreational and competitive classes, as well as birthday parties.
