Merrick teen reaches for the stars at Eisenhower Park

Merokean Lauren Lomonsoff, 14, recently wowed audiences at Nassau County’s annual Reach for the Stars singing competition at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow –– the county’s version of the TV hit "American Idol."

Lomonsoff performed "I’m Beginning to See the Light," a popular jazz standard."

Some 120 contestants –– all selected by audition on July 7 –– took part in the evening. Contestants had to be at least 13 years old, but not older than 19.
