Miller Place man arrested for Merrick fraud scheme

Nassau detectives arrested a Miller Place man on Feb. 6 for a grand larceny that occurred on July 2, 2023 in Merrick. 

According to police, Anthony Boglino, 38, met with a female victim as a founder of Miele Consulting Corporation, in order to secure a small business administration loan. The vicitim signed a contract with Boglino to obtain a $50,000 loan. The victim paid $1,100 in processing fees, but never received the grant. 

During the investigation, detectives discovered nine more victims who paid Boglino fees, ranging from $150 to $3,682. Contracts were sent to victims on an SBA letterhead. 

Boglino was arrested on Feb. 6 without incident. 

Detectives ask that anyone who feels they were a vicitim to a similar incident contact the police department. All callers will remain anonymous. 

Boglino is charged with two counts of grand larcen, two counts of scheme to fraud, six counts of petit larceny and 23 counts of forgery. He was arraigned on Feb. 7 at the First Distric Court in Hempstead.
