Body Mapping
The exhibit commemorates the opening of the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine at Hofstra University. Works by contemporary artists, Tina Blondell, Giedre Montvila, K.C. (Kaethe) Kauffman, and Eileen Senner are featured, whose imagery deals with marking the human body. Each artist draws upon cultural and societal issues of body image and incorporates traditions such as Mehndi and ta moko practices of superimposing interlacing spiral markings on painted portraits in their work. Eastern Shores
The new exhibit explores the work of eight artists who deal with themes connected to the water, curated by artist Marcia Widenor.
