Music, culture and community took center stage at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park on June 13 as Nassau County hosted Indian American Night as part of its International Nights series.

The event, presented by County Executive Bruce Blakeman, brought together residents from across Long Island to celebrate the contributions and traditions of the Indian American community. Families gathered at the outdoor venue for an evening of cultural performances, entertainment and community fellowship overlooking Salisbury Lake.

Indian American Night highlighted the rich heritage of one of Nassau County’s largest and most vibrant cultural communities. Attendees enjoyed performances showcasing traditional and contemporary Indian music and dance while community leaders and organizations promoted cultural awareness and unity.

The celebration was organized with support from local sponsors and community organizations, including the Indian American Forum, India Association of Long Island, IDP USA India Day Parade, Arya Samaj of Long Island and Friends for Good Health.

Blakeman’s International Nights series is designed to recognize the diverse cultures that make up Nassau County and provide opportunities for residents to learn about and celebrate their neighbors’ traditions.

The evening emphasized cultural pride, community engagement and the shared values that connect Nassau County’s diverse population. Organizers said the event reflected the county’s commitment to honoring its multicultural heritage while fostering understanding among residents from different backgrounds.

Indian American Night was one of several cultural celebrations scheduled throughout the summer at the Lakeside Theatre, which has become a gathering place for community events, concerts and festivals.
