The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District’s proposed 2026-27 budget passed Tuesday, along with three additional propositions authorizing capital and technology reserve projects and the creation of a new capital reserve fund.

Voters approved Proposition 1, the district’s $69.4 million spending plan for the 2026-27 school year, by a vote of 737 to 396. The budget represents a 2.34 percent increase over the current year’s budget and includes a 2.58 percent tax levy increase, which remains below the state tax cap.

Proposition 2, which authorizes the use of approximately $495,000 from the district’s technology reserve fund for technology upgrades, passed by a vote of 719 to 369. The plan includes new tablets for students in kindergarten through second grade as part of the district’s multi-year technology initiative.

Voters also approved Proposition 3, authorizing the use of capital reserve funds for district improvement projects, by a vote of 807 to 320. The proposition allows the district to use approximately $980,000 from the reserve for projects including auditorium rigging renovations, a new water heater at the high school, air conditioning upgrades at Vernon Elementary School and a new prekindergarten playground at Theodore Roosevelt School

Voters also approved Proposition 4, establishing a new capital reserve fund with a maximum balance of $25 million and a 15-year term, by a vote of 779 to 341. District officials previously said the proposition authorizes only the creation and funding of the reserve account, and that any future projects financed through the fund would require separate voter approval.

Five candidates competed for three seats on the Board of Education, including two full terms expiring June 30, 2030, and one partial term expiring in June 2027.

Elected to the board were Todd Cronin with 644 votes , Anne Marie Longo with 635  votes, and incumbent Board President Nancy Castrogiovanni with 600 votes.

The remaining candidates, incumbent Board Vice President Maryann Santos and Alina Vegliante, received 500 and 409 votes, respectively.
