According to police, three men entered the Radio Shack at about 2:15 p.m. At least one of them brandished a long barreled revolver and announced a robbery. Employees were forced to the rear of the store while the subjects took various electronic merchandise including cell phones, gaming systems and Ipad tablet computers. The men then ran out of the front door of the store with the merchandise and into a light colored, older model SUV-style vehicle bearing Florida license plates.

Rockville Centre police were notified by a witness, said to be an off-duty New York City cop, who tried follow the getaway car. He was prevented from doing so by two other men in a second vehicle, a yellow 2012 Chevrolet Camaro that continually impeded and blocked the path of the vehicle driven by the witness. After receiving the description of the car that was radioed by a Rockville Centre patrolman, Nassau County First Precinct officers were able to stop and arrest Parker and Crawley at Fulton and North Franklin avenues at 2:38 p.m.

Parker and Crawley were charged with first-degree robbery and attempted robbery and were scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.

“I want to thank the Rockville Centre Police Department for its quick response to this armed robbery," said Mayor Francis Murray."They were on the scene within minutes of the alarm and their actions led directly to the arrest of two suspects in Hempstead a short time later.”
