Children of Rockville Centre got a taste of the magic of the season last month. The National Council of Jewish Women held a Chanukah celebration at the John A. Anderson Recreation Center on Dec. 16, open to all children in the community. The evening’s events included the lighting of the menorah by Rabbi Elliot Skidell of Central Synagogue-Beth Emeth, refreshments and Simply Magic featuring John Turdo. Attendees included Mayor Francis X. Murray, Assemblywoman Judy Griffin, Rabbi Howard Diamond of Congregation B’nai Sholom-Beth David and Deputy Mayor Kathy Baxley. Elizabeth Levine organized the event, and attendees were asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to local charities.
