The Church of the Ascension blessed its new doors and windows at its Michaelmas Service on Sept. 29. The new doors and windows were donated by parishioners and installed over the summer along with a new handicap ramp.

Within the windows are depictions of Saint Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel. Bishop Geralyn Wolf from the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island was present to consecrate the doors and windows with holy water and lead the blessing ceremony, and The Very Rev. Father Kevin Morris, rector of the church, led the following Michaelmas Service.

Michaelmas is the feast of Saint Michael, the patron saint of police, paramedics, fire fighters and the military. Members of the Rockville Center Fire Department were present along with Mayor Francis Murray and various other local elected officials.
