Dr. Heller moves to new office

After 35 years on Sunrise Highway, local dentist Dr. Joel Heller has moved his practice to 66 Lincoln Court.

Now Heller shares an address with two other dentists, Dr. Henry Cuttler and Dr. Lawrence Gottesman. They all have separate practices but they share the same space. Heller said that with this setup, the dentists can keep an eye on each other’s office when they go on vacation, and they can all do more work in their offices instead of recommending patients to other places.

“It has different equipment,” said Heller of his new office. “Everything is brand new. All new equipment is state of the art. The whole soup and nuts.”

Heller moved his practice from on Jan. 19. Before moving, he had to demolish his old equipment at the Sunrise Highway location.

“You know how you lease a space, and you build a space,” said Heller. “And when you leave you have to put it back how you found it.”

Heller said he moved because his old rent was “a little ridiculous” — $7,000 for 1,300 square feet. Now he divides 2,400 square feet with the other two dentists. “So it’s a little more palatable,” Heller said of the rent.
