Even though it didn’t feel like it outside just yet, spring was in full blast at the lobby of the Public Square building at Molloy University, where the Springtime Spectacular & Egg Hunt brought the season indoors for dozens of excited children.
Organized in just over a month by members of the student government and other campus clubs, the two-hour event transformed the space into a colorful hub of arts, crafts, games, and laughter. Tables lined the lobby, offering kids opportunities to color all kinds of Easter-themed items, hunt and decorate plastic eggs, and create pinwheels and flowers from streamer paper.
The volunteers helped lead activities such as a ring toss with someone donning bunny ears, balancing eggs on wooden spoons while walking, knocking marshmallows off stacked cups using blower party horns, and even bowling with bunny-shaped pins. The Easter Bunny was also on hand to take fun photos with everyone who attended.
There was no shortage of smiles as children jumped from one activity to the next, enjoying every creative challenge.
“They put so much time and effort into making it a fun experience for the children,” said Janine Biscari, Molloy’s vice president of student affairs. “It ties to our mission of service and who we are. It was a nice community event.”
Snacks and drinks were also available for attendees, giving families a chance to refuel between crafts and games.
The mix of playful activities and festive decorations created a joyful atmosphere that captured the spirit of the season. For many children, it was a rare chance to enjoy hands-on activities and interact with peers in a bright, welcoming space.
“It was nice to have a little splash of spring and get kids excited for Easter and the outdoor activities,” Biscari said.
