"Enchanted Winterland' set for Feb. 13 in Rockville Centre

Posted

Following the success of Enchanted Winterland over the last two years, raising over $15,000 for the Rockville Centre Community Fund, Mayor Mary Bossart, the honorary chairwoman of the event’s steering committee announced a special — and different — third annual Enchanted Winterland that is scheduled for Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. at Molloy College.

This year the RVC Community Fund will team up with the South Shore Symphony, under the direction of Wayne Lipton, with choreography by Joan MacNaughton of Leggz Ltd. Dance, to present “Peter and the Wolf,” and other family-friendly musical selections.  The concert performance will take place in Molloy’s Hays Theater. A Sunday Italian supper, with a festive Valentine’s Day theme, will follow in the Anselma Room at Molloy. Rockville Centre’s own James Paymar, a media consultant, former national broadcaster and owner of the Paymar Communications Group, will make a special appearance as the “Narrator.”

The cost will be $30 for adults, and $25 for students (under the age of 18) and seniors (65 and over). This includes both the concert performance and the Italian Sunday supper.

Founded in 1987 by former Mayor Eugene Murray, the RVC Community Fund is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to helping residents of the Village of Rockville Centre who have emergency financial needs. The fund responds quickly and confidentially to requests for assistance or to referrals by friends and neighbors of individuals facing financial difficulties.

This year, Enchanted Winterland will again publish an event journal, and would like to ask for community support. Journal ad prices are: full page: $150; half page: $100 and business card: $50.   Journal ads are due by Jan. 27. The group will also provide raffle prizes, and welcomes any contributions of baskets, items or gift certificates. Please let committee members know if you can make a contribution.  All contributors will receive signage at the event.

Special sponsorships are also available: With the top “That’s Amore” sponsorship, for a $1,000 donation, sponsors receive 10 tickets to the event (a full table), signage and a full page ad in the event journal.  With a “Moonstruck” sponsorship, for $500, there are five tickets to the event (a half table), signage and a half page ad in the event journal. Journal ads, sponsorships and event tickets may be reserved online at http://alumni.molloy.edu/enchantedwinterland.

The Enchanted Winterland committee also announced a number of special event sponsors. Molloy College is returning as the Journal Sponsor; Roe’s Casa Dolce bakery is the Dessert Sponsor and Mormile Florist returns as the Flower Sponsor. Cardiology Consultants of Long Island returns as a $1,000 “That’s Amore” Sponsor, and Master Collision and TD Bank have also signed on as a $1,000 “That’s Amore” sponsors.

Bossart is again working with the Enchanted Winterland steering committee as she did last year, joining Joan Hope MacNaughton, Sylvia Chertow, Catherine Tully Muscente, Jeanne Farnan Mulry and Patricia O’Grady Quinn who are working with her.

Mark your calendars for this special event. Check the online link, call Mayor Bossart at (516) 678-9260, email Mary Rohrs at mrohrs@rvcny.us, or contact any committee member if you would like to attend or be involved in any way. The Enchanted Winterland promises to be a delightful way to spend a cold winter afternoon with friends and family. In addition, all proceeds will be used to help neighbors facing emergency financial difficulties. It’s a wonderful way to give back to your community, while having fun with your whole family.
