The South Side Middle School Chorale brought festive cheer to the Sandel Senior Center with a lively performance of holiday songs that had both students and seniors singing in harmony.
The young singers, under the direction of Melissa Lagoudes, performed a mix of classic holiday hits like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and Jewish favorites such as “The Dreidel Song” and “Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah.” The concert also included a special rendition of George Michael’s “Last Christmas,” which had the audience tapping their feet and humming along.
The Dec. 19 concert, which took place in the heart of the holiday season, was more than just a performance—it was a joyful celebration. Seniors at the center got into the festive spirit by joining in on the singing, creating a warm, communal atmosphere.
One of the funniest moments came when Joan Heines and Pat McLaughlin performed “Nuttin' For Christmas” while wearing red sideways ball caps, bringing lots of laughter to the crowd.
After the concert, the fun continued with a pizza party, where the chorale members and senior residents had the chance to relax, mingle, and enjoy each other's company.
