The annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser in Rockville Centre raised more than $75,000 for childhood cancer research during its 23rd local event, held at North Village Tavern.

Participants of all ages shaved their heads on March 28 in solidarity with children battling cancer, continuing a tradition that supports the foundation’s mission to fund life-saving research. The nonprofit, founded in 1999, has awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in grants worldwide.

This year’s event featured 16 in-person shavees, with additional participants taking part from home. Top fundraisers included longtime supporters and local students, while Team RVC Fire earned “Top Team” honors with more than $14,000 raised.

The event also included remarks from founder John Bender and drew strong community support, with volunteers, survivors and spectators filling the venue.

Proceeds will contribute to ongoing efforts to improve treatments and outcomes for children diagnosed with cancer.
