Making the grade at college

Several Rockville Centre graduates continued to succeed academically by making the Dean’s List during their fall semesters at college.

St. Agnes graduate Courtney O’Donnell earned a 3.80 grade-point average during her fall semester as a sophomore at Marist College. She was recently recommended by her advisor to the school’s 5-year bachelor and masters programs in educational psychology. This will result in her receiving a dual certification at the bachelor level in childhood education and special education and a master’s in educational psychology.

O’Donnell hopes to become a special education teacher after graduation.  Last summer, she worked as a permanent aide at Rosemary Kennedy School in Wantagh.

“Having a good work ethic instilled in me from my parents, St. Agnes School and Sacred Heart Academy has prepared me for my college classes and to work seriously,” she said. “Finding time to balance everything is key to my successful semesters at Marist College.  I look forward to continuing my strong work ethic into my final undergraduate years and into the Psych/Special Education Masters Program.”

South Side graduate Laura Stern was named to the Dean's List at the College of William & Mary, and Michael Roche and Cyndey Nelson did the same at Fairfield University.

To make the Dean’s List, a student must have a GPA of 3.60 or better and successfully complete all registered courses.
