The Village of Rockville Centre plans to transition its mobile parking payment system from the Flowbird app to ParkMobile by the end of June, according to village officials.
The change follows the 2025 integration of Flowbird into Arrive, a company that also operates ParkMobile. Village officials said existing parking meters and hardware will remain in place, and no physical changes to the parking infrastructure are expected.
During the transition period, both the Flowbird and ParkMobile apps will be available for use to allow motorists to continue paying for parking without interruption. Officials said additional information about the migration process will be released as details are finalized.
ParkMobile is used in more than 400 cities across the United States and Canada. Village officials said the platform will provide users with a single mobile parking application that can be used in multiple municipalities.
Under the new system, motorists will be required to enter their vehicle license plate number when starting a parking session. Officials said the information will be used for parking enforcement and validation, eliminating the need for printed receipts or dashboard displays. Drivers are encouraged to ensure license plate information is entered accurately to avoid potential citation issues.
Village officials also said the ParkMobile platform includes features such as enhanced parking zone mapping, communication tools related to parking regulations, and compatibility with emerging technologies, including contactless payments and electric vehicle charging services.
As part of the transition, mobile parking payment services currently associated with Flowbird will be transferred to ParkMobile LLC. Existing agreements referencing Flowbird will be updated to reflect the new provider.
The transaction fee for mobile parking payments will increase to 35 cents per transaction, which village officials said aligns with ParkMobile's standard pricing structure.
Officials said the transition is intended to modernize the village's mobile parking payment system and improve the parking experience for residents and visitors.
