Rockville Centre lights up with fireworks and South Shore Symphony

Dozens gathered across Rockville Centre on Saturday night to enjoy the village’s annual fireworks celebration and concert, a longstanding tradition that continues to bring together families, friends and neighbors from across the South Shore.

Hosted by the Village of Rockville Centre and the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts, the free event has been a local favorite for more than 30 years, celebrating Independence Day with music, community and a spectacular fireworks display.

Crowds filled the Pette and Barasch ballfields and surrounding areas to enjoy a live performance by the South Shore Symphony Orchestra. The evening’s soundtrack featured a mix of show tunes, movie themes, pop hits and patriotic classics.

Just after sunset, the sky erupted with color as the fireworks show began, choreographed to the orchestra’s music for a synchronized and breathtaking display.

The fireworks were produced by Fireworks by Grucci, a Bellport-based company with a long history of high-profile events, including Olympic ceremonies and presidential inaugurations. The company has provided Rockville Centre’s fireworks since 1993.

More than just a show, the event was a celebration of community spirit — an evening of shared memories and tradition that continues to define summer in Rockville Centre.

“It was great to join the community at Pette and Barasch Fields for an evening filled with music, patriotism, enthusiasm, and an incredible Grucci Fireworks display,” Assemblywoman Judy Griffin said. “The South Shore Symphony gave a beautiful performance that perfectly complemented the show — it truly brought the night to life.”

Along with Griffin, Legislator Scott Davis also enjoyed the festivities.

“With amazing music under the stars and a spectacular fireworks display, this cherished summertime tradition brings our community together and delights guests of all ages with an awe-inspiring showcase of sound and vision,” he said. “I was thrilled to be a part of it once again, and I am thankful to the South Shore Symphony for keeping this Rockville Centre tradition as strong and vibrant as ever.”
