While most New Year’s Eve celebrations happen long after bedtime for young children, the Rockville Centre Public Library made sure its youngest patrons didn’t miss out on the fun — by ringing in the New Year at noon.
The library hosted a festive Noon Year’s Eve celebration on Dec. 30, welcoming families from across the village for a joyful, age-appropriate event filled with music, crafts and snacks. Designed especially for young children, the hour-long party offered all the excitement of a traditional New Year’s Eve countdown, without the late night.
The celebration took place in the Helen Kraus Room, where children and parents gathered eagerly as the clock ticked toward noon. When the countdown reached zero, balloons were released and confetti filled the air, prompting cheers and laughter from the crowd.
Throughout the event, children laughed, played and took part in hands-on activities, creating a festive atmosphere that captured the spirit of welcoming a new year in a fun and inclusive way. The mid-day timing allowed families to celebrate together while keeping the event accessible for even the youngest attendees.
