Rockville Centre residents went all out for Halloween 2026, transforming their front lawns, porches and walkways into elaborate displays of spooky characters, glowing lights and Halloween-themed scenes.

From towering skeletons and snarling monsters to ghostly figures and makeshift graveyards, the decorations offered plenty of frights for those driving through the village.

Some displays leaned into classic horror, featuring hooded Grim Reapers, skeletal figures and a headless horseman clutching a skeleton’s head. Other yards brought haunted houses to life, with costumed characters lurking in the shadows to surprise unsuspecting visitors. Giant ghosts, eerie spirits and rows of tombstones added to the chilling atmosphere.

Purple, blue and orange lights illuminated homes against the night sky, while glowing pumpkins, cobwebs and creepy creatures filled the gardens. Some displays featured towering inflatables and oversized figures that stood above the rooftops, making them hard to miss from the street.

Not every display was designed to frighten. Some homeowners mixed the scary with the sweet, pairing menacing monsters and skeletons with familiar, family-friendly characters such as Snoopy. Colorful pumpkins, playful decorations and cheerful Halloween figures offered a lighter side to the holiday, creating displays for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

Many of the decorated homes and businesses were also vying for bragging rights in the Rockville Centre Civic Association’s first-ever Halloween Decorating Contest. With categories recognizing both frightening and family-friendly displays, the competition gave residents another reason to take a drive around the village and see how their neighbors brought Halloween to life.

Winners and prizes were scheduled to be announced Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. on the RVC Civic Association’s Instagram page and website.
