Rockville Centre sees heaviest snow in nearly two years

Snowfall creates fun for kids and extra work for residents and village crews

Rockville Centre residents awoke Sunday morning to a postcard-worthy winter scene as steady snowfall continued from a storm that began the previous night, ultimately dropping about 5 to 6 inches of snow across the village.

The snowfall marked the heaviest accumulation in the area since February 2024.

Snow continued through much of the morning before tapering off and ending by the afternoon, giving way to the scrape of shovels and the hums of snow blowers as homeowners began clearing sidewalks, stoops, and driveways. Village crews were also out early plowing and treating roadways to keep streets passable as residents dug out from the weekend storm.

While the snow created extra work for adults, it delivered hours of fun for children throughout the village. Bundled in winter gear, youngsters filled yards and parks, making snow angels, building snowmen and engaging in spirited fun as families took full advantage of the fresh snowfall.
