Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis is partnering with the county’s Assessment Review Commission to offer two free virtual workshops on to help homeowners file grievances over their property assessments.

The two Jan. 5 online sessions will guide residents through the grievance process and demonstrate how to use the county’s system to dispute an assessed value. Participants will also be able to submit questions via chat to an ARC representative, who will respond after the presentation or follow up directly.

Davis said the workshops are an important resource for homeowners navigating an aging and increasingly inaccurate tax roll.

“The grievance process is such a powerful tool for homeowners to use to protect themselves and their families from unjust over-taxation,” he said, adding that residents do not need to pay third-party services to file.

Attendees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with Microsoft Teams before joining.

The workshops will be held from noon to 2 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  For more information, contact Davis’ office at 516-571-6201 or SDavis@NassauCountyNY.gov.
