Police Officer Tim Seward has been selected by a committee of his peers as the Rockville Centre Police Officer of the Year for 2009.

Officer Seward recently received his award at the annual Elks "Cop of the Year Dinner" at the Lynbrook Elks Lodge. The ceremonial event recognizes police officers from various South Shore commands for outstanding achievement.

"Tim is one of the best street cops I have observed in my career," said Rockville Centre Police Commissioner Charles Gennario. "He possesses outstanding intuition and is an exceptional investigator, a tireless worker and a true asset to the department."

Officer Seward is a five-year veteran of the village department. Prior to joining Rockville Centre force, he was a detective in the New York City Police Department.
