2. Jerry & The Newcomers will be the featured performer
Jerry & The Newcomers will perform at Music on the Green, providing live music for the final event of the summer series. The group has also performed at other Rockville Centre events, including the Taste of Rockville Centre, Playing on the Porch and the St. Agnes Bazaar. Its performance history includes appearances at community events and venues throughout Long Island, as well as the New York City Marathon. Jerry & The Newcomers have also performed at fundraising events and festivals in Nassau County and neighboring communities. The group’s appearance will give residents and visitors another opportunity to hear the band perform live during an evening of music at the Village Green.
3. Mother Nature joined in on the summer fun
The weather has certainly kept things interesting for Music on the Green this summer. The first event, held June 25 and featuring Those Damn Neighbors, brought beautiful sunshine and temperatures in the low 80s, creating ideal conditions for an evening outdoors. A month later, the weather had a very different plan. On July 30, The Basement took the stage and performed for about 45 minutes before heavy rains moved in and forced the rest of the event to be canceled. With one event still to come, the summer series has already experienced both sides of summer weather. Now, all eyes are on Aug. 27 and hoping Mother Nature cooperates.
