Two members of the Rockville Centre Police Department have retired. After more than half a century of combined service, Sgt. Thomas Landrigan and police officer Michael Vickery are leaving the department.

Landrigan joined the force in 1992 after a career as a New York City transit police officer. He was promoted to sergeant in 2005 and became a supervisor overseeing officers on night patrol. Following his retirement, he will move to Tennessee with his wife and two young children.

“We thank Tom for his 24 years of service to the village of Rockville Centre,” said Village Trustee Michael Sepe at a board meeting on Nov. 7.

Vickery has been with the RVCPD since 1977 and served as a senior patrol officer. Towards the end of his career he also worked at police headquarters, responding to requests from residents. His son Matthew Vickery is currently a sergeant with the force.

“Mike and his wife, Eileen, are looking forward to traveling and spending more time with their granddaughter,” said Sepe at the same meeting. “We thank Mike for his 39 years of service to our village.”

Mayor Francis Murray noted, “I’m going to miss you both personally.”

Two officers will be hired in the coming months to take their place, according to Lt. Chris Romance.

“Both of them had long distinguished careers with the police department both have received cop of the month for their acts as officers and supervisors,” said Romance. “They will definitely be missed by [department] members they worked with on patrol and the community they served.”
