Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tony Brunetta was joined by Mayor Francis Murray, Deputy Mayor Nancy Howard and Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce President Margarita Fox on Monday afternoon as they collected turkeys that will be delivered to the St. Agnes Parish Outreach, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and the Hispanic Brotherhood of Rockville Centre, for distribution to local families in need.

Paul E. Durnan Jr. was joined by his father, Paul E. Durnan Sr. and his grandfather, Paul H. Durnan on his first day of kindergarten at St. Agnes Cathedral School. He is the third of his namesake to attend the school — his grandfather Paul H. entered it in 1947, and his father started in 1981.

The Rev. John D. McCarthy of St. Agnes Cathedral has been selected to lead this year’s Memorial Day Parade, set for Monday. The annual commemoration begins at 10 a.m. with a procession down Maple Avenue to Memorial Park, in front of the Recreation Center on Oceanside Road, where a service will begin at 11 a.m. Contingents representing the village police and fire departments, the schools and service and sports organizations will join the march and ceremony.
