After last Friday night’s 79-48 rout of Valley Stream North, West Hempstead is 10-3 overall, 6-2 in Nassau Conference A-IV, a game behind first place Mineola. Senior guard Tyree Glascoe scored a season-high 32 points and dished out six assists, and Vinny DiLorenzo scored eight points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Rams.

Even the holiday season couldn’t slow down the Clarke Rams on the wrestling mats. Clarke not only had its annual trip to Orlando, FL for the KSA Disney Duals Classic Tournament, just before Christmas, where the team had its best finish in six years with a 4-2 mark, the program also hosted a nine-team dual meet tournament on Dec. 27-28.

Even a field that was more suitable for mud wrestling than football couldn’t slow West Hempstead’s vaunted running game. Senior Tayvon Hall rushed for 167 yards on 12 carries and scored twice to lead the Rams to a 41-7 win over visiting Clarke last Saturday in the opening round of the Nassau Conference IV playoffs.

South Side entered the Nassau Class A boys’ soccer playoffs on a high note, going 5-1-1 in its last seven Conference A-I games to finish in second place, and kept the momentum going last Saturday under the lights at Skelos Sports Complex with a 3-2 first-round playoff victory over West Hempstead.
