The incumbent legislator in the Town of Hempstead’s 2nd council district is Siela Bynoe, who is seeking a second term after taking the reins from Robert Troiano, who left to become the Town of North Hempstead’s director of operations. Bynoe is a resident of Westbury.
Challenging her is Cornelius Todd Smith, who has had a long career in business and finance, and has lived in Lake-view for most of his life.
The 2nd District encompasses East Garden City, Hempstead, Hicksville, Lakeview, New Cassel, Rockville Centre, Uniondale and Westbury.
