Dominick Famularo, 85, as beloved a figure as you’ll find in Baldwin, finally received his high school diploma last week. It was bestowed at a special Board of Education meeting that also celebrated the service of retiring district personnel. more

Birch students honored in Valentines for Vets program

Students at Birch Elementary School in Merrick recently took part in the Valentines for Vets program. Through this program, which the Town of Hempstead instituted in 2001, students create valentines to send to veterans at local Veterans Affairs hospitals. The town honored the Birch students with certificates for their efforts. Above are town Councilwoman Angie Cullen and Birch Principal Kerri Schlissel, at back, right, and students. more
