The Battle of the Dinosaurs Exhibit, represents a collaborative effort between Nassau County Department of Parks Recreation and Museums and Center for Science Teaching and Learning (CSTL), a not-for profit organization. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Regular admission prices are $6 for children and seniors, and $8 for adults.
The Medieval Festival, will take place on Sept. 16 and 17 at Sands Point Preserve. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a $7 admission fee for all adults and $4 admission fee for all children (ages 5-12) entering the preserve during the Medieval Festival. Group for adolescents who stutter, Molloy College's Communication Arts and Sciences Department is pleased to announce the initiation of a group for adolescents ages 14-17 who stutter. The Rockville Centre Basketball League, welcomes all student-athletes in grades 3 through 12 to participate in its upcoming season. Registration will be held on Thursday, September 14, from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Tuesday, September 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the South Side Middle School lobby, and at Kids Fest, on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Recreation Center.
Free Irish Classes, The Gerry Tobin Irish Language School's new semester of free, weekly, Irish Gaelic classes begins on September 14. The Hewitt Fair,will be held on Sunday, October 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hewitt School grounds at the corner of Hempstead and DeMott Avenue. A great event for the entire family, there will be games, prizes, food, raffles and more.

Craft Fair and Kids Expo, both events will be held on Saturday September 16 and Sunday, September 17 in the Bellmore LIRR Parking Field between Bellmore Ave. and Bedford Ave. The craft fair will feature 150 handcraft vendors. Rockville Centre Historical Society: Phillips House, invites one and all to enjoy the village's historic house and its memorabilia. Its next exhibit will be a Quilt and Pressed Flower Show of 19th and 20th Century quilts and framed pressed flowers. They will be on display from September 10 through November 14. On opening day, Mary Tantillo and other collectors will be on display to discuss their quilts. Lydia Paulsen will be present to demonstrate the three stages of quilting. Rhyme Time - It's never too early to expose your child to books. Parents, grandparents, and caregivers enjoy this program with their little ones. Teen Bookmark contest - Students in grades six through 12 create your own bookmarks. Artwork must be original, and incorporate the theme "Get Active @ Your Library." The finished entry must be drawn with a black pen on a template that can be picked up at the library. The winning designs will be printed and the bookmarks will be distributed during Teen Read Week, October 15 to 21. The deadline for submissions is September 29. See Mrs. Ain for more information.

Men's Breast Cancer Support Group The Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer program is offering a support group for men with breast cancer. Participants will have the opportunity to get together and discuss their special concerns. The group will meet at Adelphi University at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. . Kids' Fest Open House - On September 16, from 12 to 4 p.m., representatives from all youth sports groups in the village, as well as the police and fire departments, post office, library, Guild for the Arts, Lions Club, Mercy medical Center and others, will be available to meet with Rockville Centre kids. Several police departments will be on hand to showcase their equipment and special services. There will be free refreshments, give-a-ways, pony rides and other amusements for the children.
Tennis courts open - Har-trucourts adjacent to the rec. center are open from 8:00 a.m. until dusk seven days per week. Admission is by valid recreation card plus court fee.
Aerobic Exercise - Aerobics classes are offered by Nancy's Aerobics on Mon., Tues. and Thurs. evenings at 7 p.m. Classes are on-going and can be paid for daily. Classes are conducted in the rec. center gym in air-conditioned comfort.
Calling all finger painters - The Rockville Centre Recreation Department has begun registration for the 2006-2007 nursery school year. Registration will continue throughout the year, until all classes are filled. Classes are offered for children entering kindergarten in September 2007 or 2008.
