Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks recognized the Uniondale Fire Department and firefighter Christopher Drummond for their response to a Dec. 8, 2025 fire on Jerusalem Avenue.
Under the direction of Chief Kevin Hicks and Assistant Chief Joseph Rodriguez, Drummond entered the burning, boarded-up structure through the roof. Inside, firefighters heard screams and located an adult man who had been presumed not to be inside. Drummond and Rodriguez brought the disoriented victim to the roof, where he was safely evacuated.
Nicks, a 15-year member of the department, praised the team’s efforts.
“This outcome is a testament not only to Firefighter Drummond’s bravery and instinct, but the collective strength of the men and women of the Uniondale Fire Department,” she said. “Your service does not go unnoticed.”
