Comic book fans, collectors, cosplayers and gamers from across Long Island gathered at the Cradle of Aviation Museum for Cradle-Con, the museum’s annual pop culture convention.
The event featured comic creators, artists, vendors, cosplay groups, retro gaming and family-friendly activities.
Featured guests included voice actors Bill Ratner, who voiced Flint in “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero”; Mary McDonald-Lewis, the voice of Lady Jaye; writer Larry Hama; and Lisa Raggio, who voiced Zarana.
Also appearing was James O’Barr, creator of “The Crow,” a comic book series he created following the death of his fiancée in a crash caused by a drunk driver.
Author John Peel, a Long Island resident, also attended. Peel is known for writing science fiction novels and licensed books based on franchises including “Doctor Who,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.”
One of the convention’s most popular attractions was the Cereal Club, a nostalgia-themed area featuring classic cartoons, retro video games and an all-you-can-eat cereal bar. The attraction was designed to recreate the Saturday morning experience many attendees remembered from childhood.
