Lawrence Road Middle School families traveled the globe without leaving school during the PTA’s Multicultural Night.
The event, themed “Passport to the World,” invited students and families to celebrate the cultures, traditions and backgrounds represented throughout the school community. Families helped create cultural “destinations” around the building, giving students a chance to learn about different countries and customs from their classmates and neighbors.
Dozens of dishes representing different cultures were shared during the celebration, giving families a chance to introduce others to foods connected to their heritage. The evening also featured student and family performances that highlighted music, dance and traditions from around the world.
Decorations representing cultures were displayed throughout the school, adding to the travel-themed celebration. A large map poster also gave students and families a place to take photos, reinforcing the night’s theme of exploring the world together.
Cultural attire was encouraged, giving families another way to share their heritage and take pride in the customs that help shape the Lawrence Road community.
Lawrence Road Young Entrepreneur’s also took over the halls as they showcased and sold their products.
The event highlighted the school’s diversity while giving students and families a chance to connect through food, music, clothing and traditions from around the globe.
