The Long Island Pizza Festival will return Sept. 19 with a larger venue, more pizzerias and live entertainment at Nassau Coliseum’s Outdoor Plaza.

The festival, now in its second year, will feature pizza tastings, drinks and entertainment, including a performance by Long Island native Mike DelGuidice, a member of Billy Joel’s band.

Visitors can attend in various sessions. Session one begins at noon and running through 3 p.m. While session two begins at 4 p.m. and runs through 7 p.m.

Organizers moved the event to the Coliseum plaza after more than 2,500 people attended the inaugural festival last year, exceeding initial projections. The festival also sold out its available vendor spaces.

“Pizza is more than just a meal on Long Island, it’s part of who we are,” said Frank Antonetti, co-founder of the Long Island Pizza Festival. “The goal of the Long Island Pizza Festival is to give pizza lovers a chance to experience the incredible talent we have right here in our own backyard, while creating a fun day that brings the whole community together.”

All of the pizzerias that participated in the first festival are expected to return, along with several new vendors.

Participating pizzerias include Dario’s, King Umberto, Dough and Co., Borelli’s, Galleria, Uncle Frank’s, Onion Tree, Mama Theresa’s, Our Pizza, Donatina, Serpico’s, Zozo’s, Pizza Passegio, Pizza by Tano, Americano, Piñons, Grotta Di Fuoco and more.

“The festival is about more than celebrating great pizza,” Antonetti said. “It’s about bringing the Long Island community together. Using the event as an opportunity to give back to the people and organizations that make this community so special.

“We’re proud to turn a day of fun into something that can make a real difference,” he continued.
