Roosevelt based organization, Siblings Helping Siblings hosted a sensory-friendly Halloween Trunk or Treat celebration on Oct. 25. The organization brought families together for an afternoon of costumes, candy and holiday fun in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
The event, at John J. Byrne Co was designed to give children with sensory sensitivities and their families an opportunity to enjoy Halloween festivities in a setting mindful of their individual needs. Traditional Halloween celebrations can sometimes be overwhelming for children sensitive to loud noises, flashing lights and large crowds.
Children dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes and enjoyed collecting treats while participating in the festivities at their own pace.
Beyond the candy and costumes, the event provided an opportunity for families to connect, celebrate and create lasting memories together. Through the gathering, Siblings Helping Siblings highlighted the importance of making community traditions accessible to all children, regardless of their sensory needs.
