Smith Street School, in partnership with the Northern Parkway Elementary School PTA, hosted its Spring Fling Vendor Fair on May 2 at Smith Street Elementary School.
The event featured a range of activities for families and community members, including local and student vendors, raffle prizes, student-run tables and live entertainment. Students and volunteers played an active role throughout the day, running booths such as lemonade stands, handmade jewelry, bake sales, henna and raffle stations.
Music from the Smith Street School band provided a backdrop for the event, while performances added to the festive atmosphere. The Lawrence Road cheer squad performed, along with routines by the Smith Street School dance club to “Count on Me” by Whitney Houston. The Smith Street School chorus also performed “Don’t You Worry ’Bout a Thing” and “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars.
The event drew families from across the community for a day of food, entertainment and school spirit.
“Spring Fling was amazing! Great performances, nice vendors, lots of student entrepreneurs,” said Monique Darrisaw-Akil, Uniondale school superintendent.
