On Cub and Girl Scout STEAM Night last Saturday at the Long Island Children's Museum, Daisy scouts rotated through four hands-on stations designed to spark their interest in science and exploration.

  • Animal Adventure Station : STEAM Night coordinator showed girls number of animals including Mango, the bearded dragon; Mochi, a gecko and Brie the "fancy rat." The girls learned how evolution had shaped their bodies.
  • Ocean Odysses : Cephalopods like octopuses  uses jet propulsion to move through water. Scouts recreated a balloon race to demonstate locomotion of the science of fluid dynamics.
  • Flying Fish : Scouts created flying fish to test out a wind tube to explore principales of aerodynamics.
  • Buoyant Boats - Scouts created their own foil boat to experience with salinity of water to learn about physics of buoyancy and density.
