Nassau County Legislators Viviana Russell who represents part of Uniondale and Scott Davis who represents Rockville Centre and joined the Antioch Baptist Church of Hempstead faith community April 26 to celebrate the church’s 97th anniversary and honor Bishop Phillip Elliott and First Lady Sheila Elliott.
The celebration also marked Bishop Elliott’s 50th pastoral anniversary and his 30th year as senior pastor of Antioch Baptist Church. The church has served Hempstead Village for nearly a century, offering spiritual leadership and community support to generations of congregants and residents.
“Antioch Baptist is a cornerstone of life in Hempstead Village, and its congregants have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to uplifting others for nearly a century,” Legislator Russell said. “We celebrate the strength of Antioch Baptist Church, Bishop Elliott and First Lady Dr. Elliott’s steady guidance over the last three decades, and the role of our faith communities play as beacons of light across our County.”
Russell also recognized the church’s longstanding role in the village and the Elliotts’ decades of leadership.
