Getting around Valley Stream by the Village Green has been a bit more difficult these past two months, with Valley Stream Boulevard closed between Hicks Street and Payan Avenue. However village officials say once construction is complete, the road will be much safer for drivers and pedestrians.

Nassau County is updating its traffic signals in several areas, including Valley Stream. More than a dozen traffic lights at numerous intersections on Central Avenue and Mill Road are being replaced, according to county officials.

Village officials have taken action to replace a deteriorating culvert on Valley Stream Boulevard, approving a $1.176 million construction project. The culvert carries a stream under the road, where it then runs through the Village Green.

Village officials say that emergency repairs are needed for the culvert on Valley Stream Boulevard, and that they will move ahead with replacing it in the coming months. Once the $2 million construction project begins, the road will be closed for several months.

Because of the costs, we plan to have an attorney write the contract, but the architect and the contractor don’t feel comfortable and want their own version.
