Members of the K-Kids club at Lee Road Elementary School in the Levittown School District led highly successful schoolwide fundraisers that ultimately supported their local fire department and the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center Foundation.
Representatives of the Kiwanis organization and members of the Wantagh Fire Department, as well as teachers and administrators, gathered at Lee Road on June 12 to commend students’ efforts. Students generated original fundraising ideas that included holiday shops and the sale of handcrafted items such as bracelets, stickers, stress balls and bookmarks. The K-Kids spent months planning, creating, organizing and running these fundraisers. In addition to a direct donation to the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center Foundation, students donated a trauma kit to the fire department
that includes numerous essential tools for responding to emergencies.
“We’re so proud of the leadership, teamwork, creativity and kindness they showed throughout the entire process,” club advisor Emily Dunbar said.
“Our K-Kids are a group of dedicated, compassionate young people who exemplify the very best of our school community,” Principal Jami Anspach said. “They set out with meaningful goals, worked together as a team and demonstrated leadership, creativity and kindness every step of the way.”
